The Reichia Folklore Museum opened to the public in 1988 and it was awarded by the Academy of Athens. The first funds were raised in New York by Georgios Belesis, while in Greece the collection of the exhibits had already started.
The residents’ response was impressive. The community building which was given in order to house the museum was restored with donations of the Greek expatriates in America. The Georgios and Panagiota Belesis Foundation has the management of the Museum.
The Museum is 33km from Movemvasia and 23km from Molaoi. Its collection comprises agricultural tools, weavings, caps, presses for grape must (strophilies), home utensils, photographs and others. Visits are available upon request. Call Reichias' Citizen Service Centre or the Municipality of Monemvasia.
