Roman Retaining Wall of Patra

COUNTY: Achaea MUNICIPALITY: Patras

The Roman Retaining Wall was constructed during the Roman period under emperor Nero and it isat the center of Patras in Psila Alonia.

The wall, 70m long, was part of the city’s fortification and it stopped the dirt coming from the hill. It was probably part of the fortification of the city and the port, during the Roman period. Under the wall an artificial port with big rings was constructed in order for the roman ships to lay.
