It sits in the coast of Agios Nikolaos, in Agia Marina area, in Monemvasia Municipality of Laconia region. It is a rare geological phenomenon, an area where fossils of paleoflora and paleofauna have been preserved for millions of years.
It extends from Agia Marina to the Kampos of Voies, following the seashore. The best preserved fossils are in the Agia Marina, Korakas and Spitha areas. Korakas area hosts the tallest specimen, a fossilised trunk of 2 metres height. In Agia Marina area, the space is well-organised, where visitors can attend tours and get information about this rare and important geological phenomenon. The information centre works mainly during the summer months and entrance is free.
