The gorge has a total length of 4,745 metres, and its entrance is on a spot 850 metres away from the village Reichea. It starts on an altitude of 460 metres, ending on 60 metres, and it has very rough terrain. It is not recommended to traverse it without the help of experienced hikers or members of hiking communities that know the gorge well, because at many points vertical rappelling or climbing is needed.
Other than the difficulties of its traversing, it rewards the visitor with views of exceptional natural beauty and an impressive journey through high and imposing rocks. The best time to travel it is April and May because many birds incubate their eggs, filling the gorge with their singing.
The gorge ends on the beautiful Mpalogkeri beach.
