The Municipality of Sparta in cooperation with the Parnonas-Taygetos development company created the Botanical and Geological Museum of Mount Taygetos in Anavryti village near Sparta. This small museum is accommodated in the high-ceiling rooms of the Primary School of Anavryti, at an altitude of 800m. It includes photos of rare plants that you can come across at Mount Taygetos, tables with visual material, as well as sketches. This museum is an excellent place for you to learn all about the endemic and rare plants of the region. You will also find a notable collection of local rocks and fossils. Admission is free.
