Previously known as Brysario, Goumenissa is a mountainous village at an altitude of 784m, with 295 residents. It is at the center of Achaias prefecture on the northern slopes of Kokoretsa top, 82km southeast of Patras. It is also close to Kalavryta.
Its climate is mild without severe winters and hot summers. The village is agricultural and it produces apples, peaches, potatoes, garlic, beans, corns and clovers. Over 60% of the old houses have been demolished in order to build new ones. On July 17th, the village organizes the festival of Agia Marina (St. Marina). The village is surrounded by forests (pine trees, oak trees and kermes oaks).
