Davia fortress and its medieval citadel were built on the ruins of an ancient fortress next to Elissonas’ river bridge. This triangular fortress, 250X250X200m, was constructed in the middle of a plateau at an altitude of 850m. The flat ground was a major drawback, because in 1423 the Turks seized the fortress, thus, conquering the entire region easily. Today, there are still vestiges of the wall, the four towers, the gates and of several buildings.
