TL;DR

A lowland village built in the midst of a green scenery, featuring a perennial plane tree, a historical cave and festivals in August 16 and 18.

Aghios Floros is one of the most beautiful villages of Messinia prefecture and a perfect holiday destination. It is built in the midst of a green scenery at an altitude of 28m, next to Pamisos river, 20km northwest of Kalamata/en/city/kalamata, and it has approximately 300 residents. It took its name after the chapel of Agioi Martyres Florou and Lavrou (Saint Martyrs of Floros and Lavrou), which is next to the present church of Aghios Floros (St. Floros).

In the center of the village there is a plane tree of the 16th-17th century which was declared a landmark of nature [natural monument].

Every year, on August 16th and 18th the village organizes festivals.

On the side of the nearby mountain there is the church of Agios Charalampos (St. Charalampos) built in 1835.

Near the village you will find the “Cave of Giannirikas”, where vessels from different historical eras have been discovered even though the cave remains unexplored.
