The village's name originates from a Turkish “Agha” (Lord) of the area. It holds a festival every 26th of July, dedicated to Agia Paraskeyi ('Saint Paraskevi'), the patron saint of Vrachati. This event attracts many people. The monastery of Agia Paraskevi is located on Vrachati's main road. The village's other churches are those of Agios Dimitrios ('Saint Dimitrios') and Evangelismos (“The Annunciation”).
