Metohi of Kalavryta is a mountainous hamlet at an altitude of 833m with only 13 inhabitants. It is located in Kato Vlasia in the municipality of Kalavryta of the prefecture of Achaea and is 26km from Kalavryta.
It was a land that belonged to the Mega Speleon monastery from the byzantine period, hence the name “metohi” (meaning, a land belonging to a monastery).
On the top of a hill near Metohi of Kalavryta is the monastery of Agios Nikolaos Vlasias. According to tradition, the monastery was built in the 7th century by a monk of Mount Athos. In the past, the monastery had about 100 monks. Today, it is a convent with only one nun.
In the region of Achaea there are two more hamlets with the same name: Metohi of Aigialeia and Metohi of Achaea.
